Starting in December 2009 with the children performing holiday songs before decorating cookies with the seniors, the inter-generational buddy program became a monthly visit that had 10 youngsters and their 10 young-at-heart counterparts spending time together in planned activities.

Despite their age difference and the fact that none of them had met previously, Jones said the students from Discovery and the residents of Atria quickly forged a bond.

“I think everyone had a good time,” she said, explaining that actives included crafts, parties and even an afternoon of Wii bowling. read more>>
