William Way LGBT Community Center
1315 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA
Decorated with clusters of balloons and twisted streamers, GenPhilly transformed the ballroom at William Way into a 1950s Prom theme and invited dancers of all ages to come and get their swing on at our Vintage Dance Party! Everyone enjoyed a fun filled evening of music, mingling, dancing and light refreshments.
Dance instructor Bob Skiba taught the steps to popular swing dances, including “The Big Apple”, an improvisational jazz dance created by African American youth in the 1930’s at the Big Apple Night Club in South Carolina, Rusty Dusty and the Shorty George.
