During the weekend, GenPhilly was recognized by the National Association on Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) with an ‘Aging Innovations and Achievement Award’ for our efforts to make Philadelphia a lifelong community for all ages.
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) was also honored for its Age-friendly Philadelphia initiative for improving the quality of community living. Age-friendly activities include increasing city-wide walkability, improving accessibility of housing and fostering community engagement for all residents in Philadelphia.
The awards were presented at n4a’s annual conference.

It is official – Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) has received the EPA Aging Initiative’s Commitment Award for Building Healthy Communities for Active Aging. The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) accepted the award for PCA at the Smart Growth Conference in North Carolina last Friday, and apparently the ceremony went very well! Saturday, September 25, 2010 – GenPhilly was honored by Sarge the Elderbull for our hard work on promoting the importance of pets and elders. More than 100 animal lovers and dogs attended the event to celebrate Sarge’s Sweet 16th and to watch Sarge present awards to individuals and organizations for their commitment to Philadelphia’s animals and animal lovers.
