AoA to Oversee Community Living Assistance Services & Supports Program

The new Community Living Assistance Services & Supports (CLASS) program will establish a national voluntary, self-funding long-term services insurance program for older adults or people with disabilities. The CLASS program was created as part of the Affordable Care Act health care reform passed by Congress in 2010. For those who purchase it, this insurance will provide a flexible source of funds that can be used to purchase goods and services to help people remain independent. The Administration on Aging (AoA) will manage the CLASS program, including setting criteria and premiums for the insurance and establishing systems for assistance.
