Food & Company, an Intergenerational Cooking Experience with the Ralston Center
Food & Company, a program of the Ralston Center, hosts communal cooking sessions at community locations where senior and intergenerational participants gather to prepare delicious, healthy soups and stews. Senior volunteers can take soup home for themselves or share it with friends and neighbors; the rest is donated to local seniors in need through community partner organizations. The center is always looking for new community partners, volunteer cooks (all skill levels welcome) and partners in need of donations.
Join us for a panel discussion about the challenges of reaching and providing housing services to older adults in their homes followed by a shared brainstorming event.
Screening of GenSilent & Panel Discussion on Aging and LGBT Issues
Gen Silent is the critically acclaimed documentary from filmmaker Stu Maddux that asks six LGBT seniors if they will hide their friends, their spouses- their entire lives in order to survive in the care system.
7th Annual Pet-tastic Happy Hour
Did you know that one third of Philadelphia’s older adults have a pet in their home? Pets offer older adults unconditional love, relieve isolation, and help elders to cope with loss. Check out Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s short report on pets and seniors for more information and learn even more through http://www.phillypetsandseniors.org!
